The field of personnel recruitment and management

The objective of Human Resources is to maximize the return on investment from the organization’s human capital and minimize financial risk. The human capital is skills acquired by an employee through formal education and experience that improve the employee’s productivity and increase his or her income.

The employees should be the most important investment in every business and organization.
They have to be able to learn and to be trained. They need to be well-qualified.

When employees make mistakes, possible reasons could be that they aren’t educated enough, not trained enough or are working in the wrong area/department.

Small companies usually have to carry out the responsibilities of human resource managers themselves, because they cannot afford part or full time help. But they should always ensure that employees have, and are aware, of personnel policies which conform to current regulations.
The discipline of Human Resource Management must be carried out in a professional way.
The management of small companies are often not aware of it and if they are, they sometimes just don’t do it because they don’t think it’s important. They believe that they can easily deal with HR subjects without fundamental knowledge and experience.
Many are acting out of the gut. They don’t know, for example, that the interviewing, performance evaluation, hiring and firing, are complex subjects to execute professionally with certain steps that need to be taken. They will find out that the cost consequences are dramatic if they don’t act in a professional and appropriate way.

A large number of employees in important positions are not qualified or educated enough to fill and act in his or her job position. Therefore, we have to remember how important the Human Resource Management and its responsibilities are. Some examples: proper job descriptions, detailed interviews and assessment centres.
